  • A rural family s collected rembrance of an old friend, who reappeared on the family s farm after an absence of five years, towing a decaying cabin-cruiser behind his car and having clearly lost his grip on reality. As the tape moves from absurdity, to an increasingly threatening stand-off, to anti-climax, it deals with the slipperiness of truth, the nature of story-telling, and human responsability. Writing in Water uses subjective voices-both my characters and my own that are sincere yet faillible in their inspection of the world. I believe that documentary, as one of the Arts, should use the √íreal world of facts and issues only as a stage on which to explore the universal of human circumstance.
