Tattoos may be okay in Rolling Stone magazine, but we don t see them in the pages of Good Parenting. Societal expectations work to regulate what people do with their bodies. The image of a woman with tattoos emblazoned across her skin clashes with our expectations of what a good mother is supposed to look and be like. This video is about mothers who resist expectations and have tattoos everywhere. Marking the Mother is a theoretical documentary in which the director explores concepts of motherhood, regulation and resistance - all through the everyday experiences of mothers who wear their tattoos where all can see.
