Neil Bartlett: Pedagogue

Performance artist Neil Bartlett plays a school lecturer who betrays his sexual orientation when the videomaker asks him to describe the contents of his briefcase. With understated humour and a touch of the burlesque, Marshall interviews students and exposes Bartlett s influence on their sexuality. Homosexuality is found to be contagious, running rampant through the student population and the community at large. This video was produced in response to homophobic legislation in Thatcher's England, but is still relevant to Canadian audiences dealing with lesbian, gay and human rights issues.
