When not participating in this home birth, Michael Goldberg recorded it, quite directly. This tape gives an unusual view of pregnancy and childbirth in Tokyo. There are fewer and fewer midwives in Japan, mostly working as assistants in hospitals. Both the midwife (age 76), in whose home ÒChan-chan was born, and Mihato Taura (mom) are very outgoing; you need not understand Japanese to follow this very personal documentary.
