The Surplus is an initiative to make substance out of conventionally obsolete filmed footage, in the process limiting the large entropy inherent in it. The process called for a need to impose order on the ‘garbage video’. What resulted instead was a shift in entropy: entropy that manifested as unused material took the new form of superposition. Entropy escaped its original form of discard, taking refuge in superposition. However, the superposition itself is discarded material!
